Barely a day after Chief Minister, Dr. YS Rajasekhara Reddy said that the Congress was prepared to go it alone in the next elections, APCC President D Srinivas, on his part, came up with a statement that the door of the party are always open to all opposition parties except the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and the Bharateeya Janatha Party (BJP).

Hyderabad, April 21, 2008

APCC President D Srinivasa has asserted that the forth coming by polls to fill the vacancies to the four Lok Sabha and 16 Assembly seats caused by the resignations of Telangana MLAs will not be a referendum on Telangana. The performance of the Congress would be central issue in the by polls and people would stand by the development programmes launched in the Telangana Region.

Speaking to media after a meeting with AICC general secretary Veerappa Moily who is in charge of the party affairs in Andhra Pradesh and other central leaders to discuss the candidates shortlisted with Chief Minister, Dr.YS Rajasekhara Reddy. The proposals will be sent for formal approval of Congress president Sonia Gandhi.

The PCC chief who recently met with the leaders of the Left Parties reiterated the party's stand to enter into an alliance with the Left Parties. As far as the list of candidates in fray is concerned, he said the list would be announced in one or two days after approval by the AICC.
