Demands for categorization of scheduled castes
Hyderabad, April 21, 2008The Madiga Reservation Porta Samithi (MRPS) on Monday served an ultimatum of 48 hours on the State Government to initiate steps for submission of the Justice Usha Mehra Commission relating to the categorization of SCs, failing which the MRPS president Manda Krishna Madiga would launch unto death in Hyderabad from April 25.
Meanwhile, the Chief Minister, Dr.YS Rajasekhara Reddy in Delhi assured the agitating activists of the MRPS that the State Government was taking steps to mete out justice to the Madiga community. He said the commission was going to submit its report shortly and urged the MRPS not to get worried.
It may be noted that the Madigas for the last several years have been demanding categorization of the Scheduled castes into A,B,C,D groups based on the population.
