Speaker KR Suresh Reddy slams Chandrababu Naidu for slur on Chair

Opposition leader was seriously reprimanded by Speaker

Hyderabad, April 2, 2008

Today, the Speaker, KR Suresh Reddy in the State Assembly seriously reprimanded the Opposition leader N Chandrababu Naidu for casting aspersions on the Chair during the debate on the no-trust motion. The Opposition leader wanted to make certain clarifications during the Government reply on the motion by Minister for Mines, P Sabita Reddy.

The Speaker reprimanded the Opposition leader N Chandrababu Naidu saying that he is putting the whole House to shame while advising him to guide his members on how to behave in the House. He said that it is not possible to him to monitor the proceedings every second and assused him that he would give equal opportunities to all the members. When the Speaker disallowed Chandrababu Naidu from intervening in the reply by Sabita Reddy and asked him to wait for his turn to speak while Chandrababu Naidu alleged that the TDP members were being muffled.

Over the comments of the TDP president, an angry Speaker retorted that the Opposition leader should behave in a proper manner and directed him to resume the seat. Speaker Suresh Reddy also took the TDP Deputy leader N Janardhana Reddy to task. Even the treasury benches took strong objection to the conduct of TDP members.
