District Collector makes announcement in Meekosam programme
Hyderabad, April 1, 2008Speaking in the first ever 'Meekosam' programme after assuming charge as District Collector, Navin Mittal today said, to help the senior citizens from the poorer sections of society, the Hyderabad district administration has decided to vest powers to sanction old age, widow and physically disabled pensions to Tahsildars.
Mittal said that necessary guidelines for beneficiary selection would be issued to all Tahsildars and advised them to accord priority to sanction old age pension, determining percentage of disability of the applicants for the pensions for the physically disabled and selecting young widows for sanction of widow pensions. The District Collector asked the officials to deploy NSS Volunteers to hep the non-literate visitors in preparing their petitions for the Meekosam programme and informed them to adopt one hostel each in the district to provide moral support to the oppressed children.
Navin Mittal announced re-organization of Government schools in the city to strengthen primary education and informed the chief rationing officer to host the complete data of ration cards issued in the district on the web for easy accessibility. This was stated according to a press release issued here today, the District Collector ordered admission of a physically handicapped boy to ST Hostel to enable him to pursue his studies and he gave away cheques to HIV+ persons to start their own business ventures.
