Hyderabad, September 9, 2007

After the success of Bhu Bharati programme in Nizamabad, the Government has decided to extend the program to five more districts viz., Karimnagar, Srikakulam, Anantapur, Nellore and Kadapa soon. The Centre is also considering the AP Government's request to implement the project in all districts and complete the project in all districts in the coming five years. A project report costing nearly Rs.1,550 crore in this direction was submitted to the Centre a few day ago.

After touring Nizamabad and Warangal districts in the last three days, Union Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Jairam Ramesh speaking to media said that the survey of all lands in rural and urban areas of Nizamabad district will be completed by next March. Paving way for issuing comprehensive land titles to the people. He however said that the State Government should enact a legislation for giving the titles, whose draft is already prepared and under discussion. He said that the Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh who reviewed the development projects of the State indicated strong support to the project.

He added that the Centre was planning to support the State Government's Rs.172 crore project, organic agriculture with certification to be taken up in 25 lakh acres across the district in the next five years. The Prime Minister also cleared the proposa during his last visit to the State. He also complimented the State Government for being active in implementing the NREG programme.
