Sewage water making way polluting the lake

The Advocates Committee appointed by the Andhra Pradesh High Court that toured Kolleru Lake a few days ago, has found that sewage water from Eluru and Vijayawada Municipal Corporations were released into the water body. In its report submitted to the High Court, the Committee said that they did not have sufficient time to visit the entire area and also that they did not have clear information on the extent of the fresh water lake.
The Committee reported to the Court that to what extent of the area it has visited, they found besides sewage water, even the industries nearby and also in the upstream were releasing the effluents into the lake.
After taking account the report, a Division Bench of the High Court directed the officials to crosscheck the details submitted by the committee, file an affidavit and the action plan that they would initiate against the violators within six weeks time.
