Four year son of Software Engineer couple kidnapped in Hyderabad

Kidnappings targeted at Software Engineers on the raise

Hyderabad, September 4, 2007

A four-year old boy was kidnapped on Tuesday evening while he was playing with his brother near his house in the posh locality of Kondapur area of Cyberabad police limits.

According to Madhapur Police Inspector Jairam, the kidnappers came in a van, picked up Rohit Reddy while he was playing with his brother Praneet Reddy and spread away. However, till late in the night no ransom was demanded. Ravindernath Reddy and Lalasa both software engineers had come from the US two years ago and settled at Kondapur. Rohit Reddy went out to play with his elder brother and three other children in a nearby playground of Sankruti Vidya Mandir. Around 4:00 PM, a person went to the children and made friends with them. Later, Rohit was made to sit on the compound wall near the playground. Within no time, a person waiting on the other side of the wall snatched Rohit, hurled him into a van and sped away.

Praneeth, who saw the culprits flee with his brother alerted his grandfather. The family lodged a complaint with the Madhapur police and the police are investigating the case. Ravindranath Reddy works for Cognizant while his wife works for Satyam Computer Services Limited. The couple are worried about their son and the motive for the kidnap as there was no demand from the kidnappers for any ransom. The police have sent a special team to track the black-color Qualis in which the kidnappers made their way.

Crimes targeted at Software Engineers in the city, such as kidnapping for ransom, are on the raise. Only few months ago, a manager working with Satyam Computer Services Limited is kidnapped. He is later released.
