Osmania Hospital doctors demand dismissal of Principal

40 doctors threatened to commit suicide if no action is taken

Adilabad, September 30, 2007

Nearly 40 Dental PG Doctors of Osmania Hospital demanded for dismissal of Principal. On Sunday tension built near the Osmania Dental PG doctors block on the Osmania Hospital when a group of forty doctors threatened to commit suicide on the fifth floor of the building demanding dismissal of in-charge Principal Dr P Kamala Devi. It may be recalled that the doctors were on three day indefinite fast demanding the dismissal of the principal.

Official of the Directorate of Medical Education have been trying to pacify the PG doctors who have accused the principal of harassing them on trivial matters and threatening to fail them in examinations. The medicos have been protesting for 40 days and fasting for the last three days. On Sunday, some students holding placards and raising slogans caught the attention of the Chief Minister, Dr. YS Rajasekhara Reddy when he went to inaugurate the Nalgonda Crossroads flyover. He interacted with the doctors and agreed to order an inquiry into the issue and assured action if their allegations were found to be correct.

The Principal Kamala Devi said that she was prepared to resign if she were found to be in the wrong. She maintained that whatever discipline the college introduced was intended to benefit the students.
