Nalgonda, September 30, 2007The Suryapet police busted a major counterfeit currency racket by arresting five persons belonging to Guntur and Nalgonda districts on Sunday. Fake currency notes of Rs.100 denomination worth over Rs.12 lakhs, a printer and machines were seized from their hideout. The Superintendent of Police, Vijay Kumar speaking to media said that a police team led by Circle Inspector nabbed two persons at Manchikallu and Palvai of Rentachintala mandal in Guntur district and on the basis of information given by them, the three other accused persons were detained during a vehicle checking exercise at Durajpalli crossroads.
The police launched a hunt to nab one of the key members of the gang K Murali Krishna. The Superintendent of Police said that two other members of the gang are serving jail term at the district jail in Nalgonda. The gang reportedly circulated Rs.32,000 at Miryalaguda eight months ago before being caught by the police.
