Technical Committee on Panjagutta Flyover Collapse incident submits report

Five member committee recommends action against Gammon

Hyderabad, September 28, 2007

The five member technical expert committee set up by the State Government on the Panjagutta flyover collapse has submitted its report. The report recommended criminal action against Gammon India.

After the report submitted to the government ,the case is transferred to Central Crime Station (CCS). After the flyover collapse that claimed two lives leaving dozen injured, the Panjagutta police registered a case under section 304 (A) not against any individual but against the company as a whole.

According to police sources, investigation of this case needs a lot of technical expertise and a thorough probe which the Panjagutta police may not be able to do so. Hence, it was decided to hand over the case to CCS. It may be recalled that even the State Vigilance and Enforcement department had recommended action against Gammon India for alleged irregularities in various projects in at least two districts.
