State Government decides to appoint teachers on temporary basis

Decision taken pending Apex Court judgment on unified service rules

Hyderabad, September 26, 2007

The State Government has decided to appoint 6,800 school teachers on temporary basis from amongst the 16,000 aspirants who qualified in the DSC-2006 examination pending the Apex Court Judgment on unified service rules. Though the DSC was held last year and results were released, the issue of unified service rules was mired in legal battles and prevented the Government from issuing appointment orders.

In a report by the School Education Department submitted, the Chief Minister, Dr. YS Rajasekhara Reddy said that many schools were under staffed and it would have a negative impact on education if an appropriate action is not taken on time.

According to media sources, the Chief Minister has cleared the file pertaining to appointment of teachers from among the DSC qualified candidates on temporary basis and orders to this effect will be issued shortly. The Government has also decided to conduct the DSC examination next year to fill another 20,000 posts.
