Says land dispute is the reason behind the murder
Hyderabad, September 22, 2007In a surprising move, Venkat the son of K Keshava Rao has reportedly admitted to killing of his business partner Prashant Reddy. With this, doubts arise about the sanity of the report by the AP Forensic Science Laboratory (APFSL) which states that the deceased shot himself. The statement of Venkat has thus created a sense of confusion. Venkat was under CID custody till Friday, confessed to have shot dead Prashant following a dispute over the real estate deal. The officials of CID have submitted his confessional statement to the court on Saturday morning.
Meanwhile, Keshava Rao vehemently denied that Venkat gave any such statement and accused the CID of trying to indict his son in the case. Venkat's advocate too disputed the CID's claim and pointed out that his client did not sign the statement produced in the court.
The confession had raised doubts over the authenticity of the Gun Shot Residue (GSR) report of the APFSL that indicated Prashant Reddy could have shot himself. The onus of proving the accused guilty lies with the investigating agency and there is every possibility of the accused disowning the statement.
