Hyderabad Police arrests Ridwan Gazi for his involvement in twin blasts

14 Bangladeshi arrested when moving in suspicious circumstances

Hyderabad, September 21, 2007

The Hyderabad Police made a major breakthrough in the twin blasts when it arrested the 19-year old Bangladeshi Ridwan Gazi who is believed to be the man behind the twin bomb blasts in Hyderabad. Gazi is actually nabbed in Bangalore but was arrested only yesterday. Media sources say Ridwan Gazi made a confession statement that he is mobilizing youth towards Jihadi and its activities. He said the he primarily focused on the Muslim youth near madarasas and colleges in the city.

Gazi is produced before the court in the morning and is given judicial custody. He is shifted to the Cherlapally Prison. Speaking outside the court premises however, he said he is innocent and that he is not related with the twin blasts or any terrorist activities. The police are likely to get permission to conduct narco analysis test on Gazi and his sister Rustamjah.

Meanwhile, 14 Bangladeshi youth moving under suspicious circumstances identified by the Railway Police are arrested on their arrival. They came in the East Coast Express from Howrah. The youth are handed over to the city police who upon questioning found that they are actually Muslim laborers coming from West Bengal. They said that they have come to work at the Shamshabad Airport construction site. It is likely that the police will release them tomorrow morning after getting other additional information.
