Health cards for all BPL families
Hyderabad, September 2, 2007The Arogyasri scheme will be implemented in five more districts viz., East Godavari, West Godavari, Nalgonda, Chittoor and Rangareddy under Phase II from December 5, 2007. It will benefit nearly 48.23 lakh BPL families in these districts. The Government would also issue health cards to all BPL families in the State so as to create awareness about the scheme among the beneficiaries.
Arogyasri Trust Board has approved the design of the card and the CEO was authorized to go ahead with the printing and distribution of the cards in the five selected districts under the second phase. A decision to this extent was taken at the board of meeting of the Araogyasri Health Care Trust presided over by the Chief Minister, Dr.YS Rajasekhara Reddy who is also the chairman of the trust.
According to sources, the board has also resolved to include chemotherapy and radio therapy in cancer, cochlear implantation surgery for children below six years in addition to the diseases already covered under the pilot scheme . The Chief Minister formally inaugurated the Arogyasri Trust website aarogyasri.org.
