Barely a day after Chief Minister, Dr. YS Rajasekhara Reddy said that the Congress was prepared to go it alone in the next elections, APCC President D Srinivas, on his part, came up with a statement that the door of the party are always open to all opposition parties except the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and the Bharateeya Janatha Party (BJP).

Hyderabad, September 17, 2007

The newly appointed Pradesh Congress committee (PCC) acting president GS Rao on Monday took over charge as PCC chief. He expressed the hope that the AICC President Ms. Sonia Gandhi would do justice for both Telangana and Andhra regions as she is getting information from various quarters on issues related to both the areas.

Speaking to media at Gandhi Bhavan after formally taking charge from K Keshava Rao, he urged cooperation from all quarters of the party. Keshava Rao said that Rao is able to run the party successfully due to cooperation of party workers at all levels. The appointment of GS Rao was to facilitate the regular day to day affairs of the party as appointment of new president on regular basis would take some more time, he said.

It may be recalled that Keshava Rao has submitted his resignation on September 10 owning moral responsibility that his party chief position may influence the proceedings of a case involving his son. Keshava Rao's resignation is accepted by party top-brass which is currently on the look out for an ideal person to head one of the crucial state for the Congress Party.
