Elaborate security arrangements in view of the recent bomb blasts

Hyderabad, September 16, 2007

In view of the recent twin bomb blasts that rocked the State Capital, the security agencies are chalking out elaborate security arrangements for the prestigious International Astronautical Congress (IAC) to be held from September 24 ton 28 in the State Capital. Indian born American astronaut Sunita Williams heads of24 space agencies including NASA administrator Michael Griffin, a galaxy of astronauts from all over the globe, renowned scientists and industry professionals are likely to attend the mega event that is being organized by ISRO and Astronautical Society of India in Madhapur.

According to police sources, all the delegates will be covered by armed security personnel even when they are in hotel and security personnel are briefed accordingly. Delegates especially from the US and UK will get more attention. They will be literally shadowed by the security personnel round the clock.

Sunita Williams may interact with Indian Scientists on the advances in space exploration during a special plenary session at the IAC that will provide an opportunity for the scientific fraternity to showcase their work. This is the second time that India is hosting the prestigious event. In the 39th IAC that was held at Bangalore in 1988, nearly 2,000 space professionals and students engaged in space related work and research from across the world. In the present event, nearly 200 global organizations will take part in the exhibition.
