Hyderabad, September 14, 2007

The Chief Minister, Dr. YS Rajasekhara Reddy on Friday directed the Andhra Pradesh State Women's Commission member Renuka Reddy to resign from her post due to alleged involvement in corruption.

She was caught while accepting money from th complainant in a string operation by a private television channel. According to sources, Renuka Reddy who allegedly demanded a sum of Rs. 40,000 from a distressed women after her lover refused to marry her.

According to official release, the Chief Minister said that corrupt practices by any nominated member cannot be tolerated. It may be recalled that Commission Chairperson Mari Ravindranath and another member Padmaja Reddy were directed by the Chief Minister to resign from their posts following a brawl in public.
