Inaugurates Rajiv Gruhakalpa Township; Heads towards Guntur
Rajahmundry - East Godavari, September 1, 2007United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Chairperson Sonia Gandhi visited Rajahmundry where she inaugurated the Rajiv Gruhakalpa Low Income Housing Satellite Township in Rural Mandal of Rajahmundry. Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh Dr. YS Rajasekhara Reddy, PCC President Kesavara Rao, In-charge of State Affairs Digvijay Singh, Member of Parliament for Lok Sabha from Rajahmundry Constituency Vundavalli Aruna Kumar were with her. She inspected a model house built under the Rajiv Gruhakalpa scheme. Later she is briefly introduced with the local leaders and district administration.
She spoke with the beneficiaries of the housing scheme for which the Chief Minister and Arun Kumar gave the translation. Speaking with the people, she said that Rajiv Gandhi has special affection for Rajahmundry. She expressed satisfaction at the performance of the Governments both at the state and the centre and asked the people to make good use of schemes launched by the Governments. She asked the people to bring light in their lives.
There is no scheduled public meeting in Rajahmundry and Sonia was in the place for just about 20 minutes before heading to Guntur. Sonia would be addressing a public meeting at Guntur despite the climate looking cloudy with possible showers. Later at 3:30 PM, Ms. Sonia will be in Eluru to interact with the women of the Self-Help Groups.
