Three Circle Inspectors and three Sub Inspectors amongst those suspended
Kudapa, October 8, 2007Following indictment in a Departmental inquiry, the District Police has suspended 21 police personnel including three Circle Inspectors and three Sub Inspectors for their alleged involvement in smuggling of red sanders in the district. Kadapa is the home town of the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh Dr. YS Rajasekhara Reddy.
A gang of inter State smugglers along with notorious smugglers Reddy Narayana and Mahesh Naidu were arrested by Kadapa Crime Police last month. During their interrogation, they revealed the names of the people involved in red sander smuggling. The list also includes names of some prominent police officials.
Taking note of the complaint, the District Superintendent of Police, Y Nagi Reddy directed the Additional SP Solomon Wesley to inquire into the involvement of police personnel. The Additional SP who submitted his report to the SP a couple of days ago, upheld the charges against 21 police personnel. On the directions of the Kurnool Range DIG Kishore, the SP suspended 21 police personnel.
