Finance Minister announces Government subsidy

The Finance Minister, K Rosaiah while inaugurating an air conditioned bus service from Chirala to Hyderabad at APSRTC bus station on Friday said that the government is considering to enhance the bus fares only in Express, Luxury and Deluxe bus services and the fares in passenger buses run under Palle Velugu would remain unchanged.
Rosiah said that the revision of bus fares became inevitable to help APSRTC meet the increased fuel prices. The Government is also considering to increase bus fares without causing undue burden on passengers. The revision would come into effect only 25 per of the passengers who travelled by Express buses and 75 percent of passengers traveled by passenger buses would not be affected.
Rosiah said that the State Government released Rs.100 crore to APSRTC four days back to meet its subsidy burden which amounted to Rs.180 crores. He complimented the APSRTC for providing efficient services for surviving competition and for positing profit this year.
