One-day token strike on October 30
Hyderabad, October 25, 2007
The Joint Action Committee of Employees, Teachers and Workers is gearing up for its one day token strike on October 30 in protest against privatization of pension and seeking the right to strike work in pursuance of a solution for long pending demands.
The State JAC chairman V Gopal Reddy asked the members of JAC to prepare for a struggle seeking justice. During a lunch hour meeting at Jalasoudha, the headquarters of the Irrigation Department, he read out a pamphlet with a 17 point charter of demands. He said that the right to strike work in pursuit of justified demands was legalized in Kerala, West Bengal and Tripura States and sought a similar move in the Assembly in the State.
The chairman of the JAC's Hyderabad City Centre, PVV Satyanarayana said that among the main demands were 30 percent increase in HRA for those working in the State Capital considering that Greater Hyderabad was now classified as an A-1 city.
