Lok Satta chief Jayaprakash Narayan starts 64 km pada yatra

Aims at enlightening people against present day politics

Guntur, October 23, 2007

The Lok Satta Party chief Jayaprakash Narayan stated his 64 km padayatra from Pedagottipadu village in Prattipadu mandal to Guntur City on Tuesday campaigning against liquor belt shops. The padayatra would be used as a launching pad to herald a new political era, he said while speaking to media after unveiling his party flag at Ganikapadu village. He congratulated J Jaibhagyamma and Kumari who spearhead for the removal of wine shop in their village.

Speaking to media, he said that the main aim of the padayatra is to enlighten people against the present day politics which were mired in corruption and nepotism. Lok Satta would be able to cleanse politics in another couple of years in the country. He said that the government and the leaders do not have solutions which lie only with the people. He added that when all the villagers demanded in unison for removal of the wine shop, even the Collector was helpless.

If the political parties were sincere about regulating the liquor business, they should ask their followers and henchmen to shun the liquor trade. Once elected, people would have to bear the brunt of the lopsided decisions for five years, he said.
