In a dramatic incidents on Monday, Pavan Kalyan, the brother of Chiranjeevi welcomed the bride and the groom while surrounding his licensed revolver to the police in Banjara Hills in a symbolic gesture. He was apparently stung by Srija's comments that she and her husband faced threats from her family members, he drove strait to Jubilee Hills Police in the morning and surrendered the weapon.
Speaking to reporters before depositing the weapon, he said the entire family was hurt by her statements and said that he is surrendering the weapon to convince Srija that she faces no threat from the entire family. He ruled out the possibility of approaching the police or the courts to get them back and they are welcomed at any time they want.
In a hurriedly convened media conference at his house, Pavan Kalyan announced the formation of an NGO called Common Man's Protection Force and singed a cheque for Rs.1 crore on the spot for the organization. He ruled out that he had not married Renu Desai and said that he got highest respect on the judiciary. Meanwhile, the newly wedded couple filed a writ petition seeking police protection in Delhi High Court and the police to give protection and further the court directed Chiranjeevi family to file a counter affidavit. Speaking to a private TV news channel, Srija said that she will be back to family shortly.
