Elaborate arrangements made as thousands of devotees visits the town
Vijayanagaram, October 21, 2007The Vizianagaram District Administration made elaborate arrangements for the famous annual Sirimanotsavam of Sri Pydimamba annual festival on Tuesday. Hundreds of devotees have already poured in the town on Monday and the entire city wears a festive look with jam packed with main roads.
The municipality has earmarked nearly Rs.30,000 for illuminating main traffic junctions. The 55 feet tall tree which was carted to the house of the former chief priest B Bairagi Naidu at Hukumpet on Saturday and shaped into 'Sirimaanu' by a team of carpenters. The authorities have arranged 'chalivendrams' and temporary toilets at 11 points and nearly 90 sanitary workers were being drafted exclusively for keeping the area around the temple at three lamps junction.
The department of Endowments erected barricades at the temple for the visiting devotees. The APSRTC has made arrangements to meet the devotees rush and nearly 100 buses were pressed into service between Vizianagaram and other major towns from October 22 to 24, according APSRTC authorities.
