Police Department internal inquiry submits report to Government

Hyderabad, October 2, 2007

It may be recalled that the Maoists made an attempt on the life of former Chief Minister, N Janardhana Reddy few weeks ago. Post incident, the State Government has ordered a high level internal inquiry by the Police Department. The inquiry found that the Superintendent of Police P Lakshmi Reddy has failed to provide necessary security to the Z category protectee and submitted a report to the Government. Based on the report, the State Government has decided to transfer the SP.

It was established in the inquiry that the regular route checking was completely ignored though the tour programme of Janardhana Reddy from Vakadu in Nellore district to Tirupati was intimated well in advance. According to reliable sources, Warangal SP Sowmya Mishra and Anathapur SP Stephen Ravindra are under consideration for the post.
