Says only sitting judge can render justice
Hyderabad, October 16, 2007
At a press conference, the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) President and Opposition Leader N Chandrababu Naidu stated clearly that he was not prepared to accept an inquiry by a person handpicked by the Chief Minister as the outcome would be on predictable lines of saving himself. He stated that only a sitting judge can render justice as he is nominated by the Chief Justice.
Naidu asked the Chief Minister to make a sincere attempt and join with him in writing to the Apex Court to spare a judge citing it as rarest of the rare and extraordinary situations. The Apex Court could be convinced as there could be no other important situation than a Chief Minister facing charges of corruption and offering to face an inquiry.
Naidu charged the Chief Minister that he is not dodging the inquiry but only demanding a fair one. He said that the ruling government had ordered 18 inquiries so far and found nothing.
