Hyderabad, October 13, 2007In order to fix a standard pricing mechanism for the sale of coconuts at about 4000 temples in the state, the Endowments Department has released orders putting the price of coconuts at Rs. 5. The new pricing applies to stall in and around the premises of temples across the state except in Tirumala as the temple comes under the control of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD).
The coconut price fixation comes as a reprieve to devotees who often get cheated at temples in the hands of private stalls who sell coconuts near temple premises.
