Gets approval from Finance Ministry
Hyderabad, October 1, 2007The State Cabinet that met on Monday evening has taken some important decisions. Among them are the implementation of the Rs.2 per kg rice scheme. The Cabinet has also approved a proposal to strengthen the Police Department with about 38,000 personnel including creation of an anti-terrorist squad, Octopus, in a phased manner.
The Minister for Information, Anam Ramnarayan Reddy speaking to reporters said that the Cabinet has decided to revive the Rs. 2 per kg scheme shortly. The Finance and Civil Supplies Departments have been asked to prepare the guidelines and work out the economies. However, the date of the implementation of the scheme is not finalized.
The Minister further said that the Cabinet has also taken a decision to strengthening of the Police Department. Nearly 38,000 police personnel will be recruited in a phased manner. Nearly 16 wings will be strengthened with a budget of Rs. 852 crore, of which Rs.688 crore will be recurring expenditure.
