New cars for Chandrababu Naidu Convey

Government issues instructions to this effect

Hyderabad, November 9, 2007

In view of the break down of a car in the convey of the Opposition Leader and President of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) N Chandrababu Naidu, the State Government has decided to put in new cars in place of the old cars. Chandrababu Naidu is a Z-plus protectee and all security arrangements have been taken up. According to police sources, the State Government has already decided to buy a fleet of new cars for the Opposition leader and the necessary instructions have been passed to the concerned Department.

A car fitted with a jammer, positioned at the rear of Chandrababu Naidu's convoy of six white Ambassadors was stranded on the road opposite the Assembly while he was on his way to attend to business of the House on Wednesday. It may be recalled that one of the cars that breakdown was on account of loose contact of the plug with the battery and is immediately restored.

It may be recalled that the State Government had in a couple of years back scaled down his security. Keeping in view of threat to his life from Maoists, the State Government has decided to restore the Z-plus security along with new cars. Government officials maintained that he was provided with the latest 2004 model of Ambassadors which were kept at his disposal of important protectees as President and Prime Minister. The Chief Minister, Dr. YS Rajasekhara Reddy's fleet has Tata Safaris with Scorpios.
