Mecca Masjid Bomb blast case gets more progress

Hyderabad, November 8, 2007

The Hyderabad City Police claimed to have achieved a major breakthrough in the Mecca Masjid blast case with the arrest of a women. The police identified a women Wazia Sultana as an accused for providing shelter to prime suspect Mirza-ur-Rehman, a Bangladeshi national and member of Harket-ul-Jehadi-al-Islami (HUJI). It may be recollected that the May 18 blast has claimed nine lives. Five more died in police firing in the post-blast incident.

Charminar Assistant Commissioner of Police Reddenna confirmed the arrest of Wazia Sultana. Sultana married another Bangladeshi national, Siddique-ur-Rehman, an illegal immigrant staying in the city since 1992 and even managed to secure a ration card in his name.

Immediately after the Mecca Masjid blasts, both Mirza and Siddique slipped out of the city and the efforts are on to trace the duo said the ACP.
