Political rivalry believed to be the reason behind the attack
Rajahmundry - East Godavari, November 7, 2007Some unidentified persons attempted to murder the East Godavari District Bikkavolu ZPTC member and Former President of State Sarpanches Union Padala Venkatarama Reddy on Wednesday night.
According to sources, some unidentified persons have attacked him around 8pm when he was going to attend a function along with his family. While he was travelling in a car from Rajahmundry, a Scorpio came across to stop the car and within seconds two youth men came on a motorbike and signalled him to open the doors. Immediately, another vehicle came behind the car and thrown chilly powder on his eyes and attached him with iron rods.
Sensing the attack on him, he immediately rushed his car towards the near by house of the Minister Jakkampudi house for safety and to save his life. The family members of the Jakkampudi immediately rushed him and admitted in a private hospital where he is undergoing treatment. Nearly 15 persons are believed to have taken part in the operation. Sources say that political rivalry is the prime motto behind the attack. The Rajahmundry In-charge DSP rushed to the spot. Police registered a case and began investigation.
