Modernization of Nizamsagar project undertaken at a cost of Rs. 500 crore

Janakampet - Nizamabad, November 4, 2007

The Chief Minister, Dr.YS Rajasekhara Reddy on Sunday dedicating the Alisagar Lift Irrigation Scheme said that the first phase of the project completed under Jalayagnam in Telangana Region. He said that an additional 1.04 lakh acres would be irrigated in the district completing the Argul Rajaram Gupta and the Choutupally Hanumanta Reddy lift irrigation schemes in a couple of months.

Addressing a massive meeting, he assured the farming community that under the Nizamsagar project's modernization will be taken up with an estimated outlay of Rs.500 crore and will be completed by next March. He further said that the proposed modernization works would be completed in four years. Like wise, the inter State Lendi project will also become operational soon to irrigate 22,000 acres of ayacut in the district.

Speaking on the occasion, he said that it was Telangana which would be benefited much under this mission. Out of the one lakh acres proposed to be brought under irrigation, 53 lakh acres would for Telangana only.
