Hyderabad, November 23, 2007

An auto rickshaw driver who was slippered by a girl after he misbehaved with her four days back reportedly kidnapped her on Friday. The abducted girl, Swapana, is the daughter of Lakshmi Narayana and Laxmi of Banajara Nagar in Erragadda. The couple runs a tea stall near their house and the daughter helps them.

According to police sources, the girl came out of the house around 5.30am to tidy up the premises and that was the last time, her father who had just woke up saw her. After half an hour, the kidnapped girl father came out and could not find her. He searched for the girl in the neighborhood and approached her friends who told him that him that four days back, while Swapana was minding the tea stall, an auto rickshaw driver stopped by. It is alleged that the driver passed some vulgar remarks and the offended girl removed a slipper and struck him with it.

Basing on a complaint by the abducted parents, the police have registered a case of kidnap. Five special teams have been formed to trace her said the police officials. According to reliable sources, the police reportedly paraded several auto drivers before Swapna’s friends, but the driver in question was not among them.
