Progress in District Primary Education Programme (DPEP) multi crore scam
Hyderabad, November 22, 2007The prime accused Sarasa Devi in the multi crore District Primary Education Programme (DPEP) scam, is understood to have deposed the names of some senior officials of the school education department before the Justice Venkataram Reddy Commission of Inquiry on Thursday.
It may be recalled that immediately the scam broke out, the police arrested Sarasa Devi, several officials of the Sarva siksha Abhiyan including Subramnayam. The State Government also ordered a judicial inquiry into the scam. Subramanyam who already deposed before the Commission reportedly informed that he paid Rs.1 crore to Sureedu as loan. Sarasa Devi deposed before the Commission for almost four hours on Thursday and the inquiry was held in camera.
According to reliable sources, that Sarasa Devi denied the involvement of Sureedu in the scam but admitted that she knew him for few years. She named several senior officials of SSA and School Education Departments. The Commission corned her on several issues and also the possible involvement of some influential persons. Four hours after grilling Sarasa Devi slipped out of the Dilkush Guest House where the inquiry was held gave a slip to the waiting media persons.
