State bandh called for on Wednesday

The Chief Minister, Dr.YS Rajasekhara Reddy on Tuesday agreed in the House to lead an all party delegation to Delhi to urge the Centre to enhance the Minimum Support Price for 13 agricultural crops. Intervening in the debate after the Minister for Agriculture, Raghuveera Reddy, and the Chief Minister said that he would lead an all party delegation to Delhi on the issue.
The police arrested and removed the fasting leaders of farmers’ associations on indefinite fast from November 18 from their camp at Indira Park and admitted them in Gandhi Hospital.
According to sources, the farmers leaders resisted but the police finally had their way. The farmers’ associations affiliated to non-Congress political parties have given a State bandh call to press for enhancement of the MSP for paddy to Rs.1,000 per quintal. The Opposition parties are supporting the bandh call.
