Hyderabad, November 19, 2007

Justice Usha Mehra, Chairperson, National Commission to examine the sub-categorization of Scheduled Castes arrived on Monday. She sought the details of the welfare schemes being implemented for weaker sections by several corporations. She met the Managing Directors of the AP State Financial Corporation, AP Scheduled Castes Cooperative Finance Corporation, State Bank of Hyderabad, Andhra Bank and the convener of the state level Bankers’ Committee during a meeting convened at Lakeview Guest House

Vice Chancellors of 22 universities and Registrars in the State brief her on the admission of students and composition of employees on the basis of SC sub-castes. Officials in the Commissionarate of Social Welfare coordinated with her in securing data pertaining to benefits accrued to SC employees during the last five to six years. She will meet the Collectors of Telangana, Coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema on Tuesday.
