Over 800 artists expected to participate

The Minister for Prohibition and Excise, Jakkampudi Rammohan Rao said that the State Government will organize 'Nandi Natakotsavams' from January 19 to 25, 2008 at Rajahmundry and the venue is Sri Venkateswara Anam Kala Kendram. He said that nearly 800 artistes from all over the State are expected to participate in the AP State Nandi awards function.
At a review meeting held to discuss the arrangements for the Natakotsavams in Rajahmundry on Saturday, he said as part of the week day programme, the AP State Film Television and Theatre Development Corporation has invited entries for Nandi Theatre Awards for the year 2007. Nearly 192 entries including 49 for 'padya natakams', 45 for 'social plays' and 98 for 'social play lets' were received so far.
He add that the panel constituted by the Government will scrutinize the performances and select 10 in each category. Theatre personalities from 32 'nataka samajams' from various districts will exhibit their performances at the awards function and 48 awardees in the three categories will receive awards for best performance, best director, play writer, leading actor, actress, music, supporting artiste, villain, comedian etc.,
