Kurnool, November 15, 2007In a reply to a heated debate over the lifting of cases against the two reporter, the State Government said that it would not withdraw the cases against the reporters until the investigation was complete. This has prompted the Telugu Desam Party and BJP members staged a walk out in the Assembly. The Chief Minister, Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy said hat the reports published by the two reporters did not fit into the category of sting operation and the police are investigating how the names of prominent people had crept into the application for allotment of a house under Indiramma Housing Scheme.
He said that the forensic science laboratory is looking into the issue to identify the handwriting on the application forms. He said that the promise he made to the journalists' unions that after the investigation was over, he would brief them about the details and a decision whether the cases should be withdrawn would be left to them and said that he stands on the promise.
He narrated the sequences of events, the Chief Minister found fault with the village secretary Maddeleti for issuing a blank allotment form signed by him to the reporters and found that this is a serious lapse and departmental action had been initiated. Not satisfied with the reply given by the Chief Minister, Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy, the TDP and BJP staged a walk out.
