Vijayawada and Hyderabad National Highway get nod for upgradation
Hyderabad, November 10, 2007The National Highway Authority of India has cleared the proposal to four-lane the road for a distance of 80 km up to Narketpally from Hyderabad. The total distance between Hyderabad and Vijayawada is 282 km.
According to highly placed sources, the authority will call for tenders and start the work soon and would be completed by early 2009. The Hyderabad-Vijayawada National High Way, one of the busiest would get a semblance of safety with the completion of the work and from Vijayawada end, 150 km has already been four-laned.
The route has been so littered with deaths that Nalgonda MLA K Venkata Reddy promised to take out padayatra on November and even threatened to launch an indefinite hunger strike.
