Increasing attacks on lady students
Anantapur, November 10, 2007Close on the heels of acid attack on a former student in Srikakulam district by a lecturer, another heinous attack took place with a stalker slitting the throat of another Intermediate student who came for Diwali vacation to her home. According to police sources, Somasekhar slit the throat of Anita at her house after she turned down his proposal for marriage and fled the scene of offence. Her parents found the girl in a pool of blood. Before breathing her last, she managed to narrate the incident to them. The police sent the body to post mortem and a case was registered against the accused.
The victim was a student of the CV Raman Private College while Somasekhar was a relative to her who is working with a contractor in Chagallu village after he failed Intermediate. The girl’s parents refused to give Anita to him in marriage. But the accused continued with his advances and the girl even slapped him once for stalking but began pestering her more and asked her to elope with him. He also threatened to kill her if she did not marry him.
Taking the opportunity that the victim was alone in her house after her parents went to the fields for work, he demanded her to marry him. When she turned down, the accused picked up a knife in the house slashed her throat and fled the scene. According to Tadipatri Rural Circle Inspector Ramakanth and Pedappapur Sub Inspector Vijaybhaskar rushed to the spot and shifted the body to Government Hospital for post-mortem.
