NH 7 put on a grinding halt
Adilabad, May 8, 2007The BJP sponsored maha dharna on Tuesday demanding the Central Government to remove the printing of danger mark on beedi packets brought traffic on the National High Way 7 to a grinding halt, leaving passengers fretting and fuming.
The BJP State Unit President Bandaru Dattatreya warned the Central Government that the party would stage a dharna before Parliament if the Centre did not relent. A large number of women attended the dharna which severely affected the movement of vehicular traffic from Toopran to Sone Bridge on the border of Adilabad district.
Meanwhile, nearly 30 BJP activists staging a rasta roko were arrested by police in Adilabad district. In Karimnagar, traffic on the busy Karimnagar-Metpally road on the State Highway came to a halt following a dharna.
