Two Sub Inspectors injured
Hyderabad, May 6, 2007The CPM forcible occupation of government lands for poorer sections turned violent on Sunday at Hyderabad and Tirupati. While the police caned the activists of CPM at four places each in Hyderabad and Tirupati when the activists of the Left parties pelted stones. In the course of action, one Sub Inspector was injured at Hyderabad and another SI was injured in Tirupati.
Under the Bhu poratam, the CPM activists erected huts a Golconda, Uppal, Kapar and LB Nagar. The activists cooked their food at the makeshift huts and resisted moves to send them away. The District Collector of Hyderabad RV Chandravadan said that giving individual house sites were banned in the twin cities. He added that the Government was constructing house for the benefit of poor and there was no need for any agitation.
Reacting to the agitation, the Revenue Minister Dharamana Prasada Rao termed as meaningless. The government is reacting positively to the housing problem and constructing a large number of houses for weaker sections.
