APCC suspends three MLAs

Show cause notice served to another MLA

Hyderabad, May 6, 2007

The Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) on Sunday suspended three legislators and served a show cause notice to another. The suspended MLAs are Naresh Kumar Agarwal of Ichapuram in Srikakulam, M Chandrasekhara Reddy from Udayagiri, Nellore and Adala Prabhakar Reddy from Sarvepally, Nellore. APCC says that the MLAs are responsible for the defeat of the party representatives in the Local bodies nominated by the party in the election to the council. However, Atmakur MLA K. Lakshmaiah Naidu received a show cause notice.

The PCC has taken a serious note of P Shankar Rao's criticism of Chief Minister, Dr. YS Rajasekhara Reddy and issued a notice seeking his response within a fortnight. The PCC also suspended the Vice Chairman of Srikakulam Zilla Parishad, D. Srinivas.

The decision was taken following the reports submitted by two committees on how the suspended leaders had sabotaged the prospects of official nominees in the Council elections. The Chief Minister, AICC General Secretary have gone through the reports and the PCC President K. Keshavarao announced the disciplinary measures against the MLAs.
