Hyderabad, May 4, 2007

Speaking to media, the Member of Parliament from Medak A. Narendra on Friday said that he never come into contact with Rasheed who is allegedly kingpin in the passport scam. He said that his name was dragged into the scam by certain vested interests. He also denied having received Rs. 11 lakhs as alleged by Rasheed.

He said that he was a victim of conspiracy by forces that saw to it that he was suspended from TRS after linking him with the scam. He said that he would expose the forces only after establishing their identify. He said that he would file a defamation case against Rasheed and a newspaper for tarnishing his image. He further said that he was ready to face any punishment if his complicity was proved.

Meanwhile, the XII Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Syed Lateefur Rehman remanded the prims accused Rasheed and a former Corporator and TDP leader Muzzaffar Ali Khan to judicial custody till May 18. It may be recalled that Rasheed surrendered before the Central Crime Station (CCS) officials who produced him before the court. Rasheed and Khan were sent to Chanchalguda Prison. Investigation officials said that a special team is likely to arrive from Delhi for interrogation.
