Rasheed surrenders before police

Names out TDP, TRS leaders including A Narendra

Hyderabad, May 3, 2007

In an unprecedented development in the human trafficking case, the prime accused Rasheed surrendered before the AP Police on Thursday. He was accompanied by his lawyer Muzaffar Ali Khan, he came to the Central Crime Station (CCS) around noon and turned himself. The police would produce him in the Nampally court on Friday and registered a case against him under the Indian Passports Act. Meanwhile, the Hyderabad police registered a case against TRS MLA S. Bapurao who represents Boath constituency in Adilabad district on the charge that he too obtained a passport by forgery and impersonation.

Interesting facts came out during the course of interrogation by the police. He spelled out the names of quite a few leaders of the TRS and TDP for their direct and indirect involvement in ensuring the illegal passage of people out of the country. During interrogation, he maintained contacts as part of the smuggling racket and among those mentioned by him were the former union minister A. Narendra who was suspended by the party recently and TRS legislators K. Lingaiah and S. Bapurao against whom police have already booked cases. He named the TDP MP from Karimnagar district Dr. Suguna Kumari and the person who worked as personal assistant to former Union Minister and TRS president K. Chandrasekhara Rao, former TDP minister N Kistappa, TRS sitting MPs Madhusudhan Reddy and D. Ravindranayak. Highly place police sources says that they have yet to establish the facts.

The Hyderabad Police Commissioner, Balwinder Singh speaking to media said the case against Bapurao was registered on the basis of reports from Adilabad district police and also special branch police. Rasheed, apprehends a threat to his life, would be provided full security, the commissioner said.
