Assault case registered against PCC presidents son

Police sources confirmed that cases against them were booked

Hyderabad, May 29, 2007

An incident involving Pradesh Congress committee president K Keshava Rao's son Venkat and his friends turned controversial. He is the accused of calling Indian Volleyball team former captain Ravikanth Reddy to his house in a land dispute and assaulting him. Protesting over the incident, members of the Volleyball Association staged a dharna in front of Keshava Rao's house even he denied the involvement of his son in the attack.

Interestingly, Venkat and his friends surrendered before a court and secured a bail immediately. The Assistant Commissioner of Police of Banajara Hills division V Ramakishnaiah confirmed that cases were registered against them under various sections.

As the story goes, Ravikanth had sold six acres of his land out of the total seven to one K Mallaiah in 1974 and later, Venkat and Prashanth Reddy had purchased the same land from Mallaiah. Prashant and others went to Kandukur to take possession of the seven acres of land but were prevented by the villagers of additional one acre land as he bought only six acres. Speaking to press persons, Keshava Rao said that his son was not involved in the assault.
