CPI and CPM demands release of Koneru Report
Hyderabad, May 24, 2007The steps taken by the Chief Minister, Dr. YS Rajasekhara Reddy to put an end the 19 days old Statewide land struggle by the left parties on Bhu poratam failed on Thursday with the CPM and CPI rejecting the government's move of conducting a workshop on the issue. The CPM State secretary BV Raghavulu and CPI State secretary K Narayana said that there would be no use in conducting a workshop without first resenting the Koneru Ranga Rao Committee's report along with the details of the action taken by the government.
The leaders expressed disappointment over the outcome of the meeting. They said that though the Chief Minister explained in detail about the housing programme, it was far from facts and there are several irregularities in the programme said BV Raghavulu.
He said that they will continue the agitation till the government created a specific mechanism with a time bound programme to solve the problem. Meanwhile, Congress leader Tulasi Reddy said that there was no difference of opinion between the party and left parties on the issue but only differed on modalities.
