CPM Activists occupied 30 acres of land

None was arrested

Vijayanagaram, May 17, 2007

Nearly 2000 CPM activists on Thursday occupied 30 acres of land at Parvathipuram, Bobbili an Vizianagaram as part of a Statewide stir. However, no one was arrested. Nearly 800 activists occupied 15 acres of land at Phubagh in Vizianagaram, 700 activists occupied 10 acres of land in Parvathipuram and 500 workers occupied five acres of land at Mallampeta in Bobbili. According to sources, no resistance came from police quarters.

The Vizianagaram Revenue Divisional Officer, MV Govindarajulu said that the government is allotting land to all landless people and there was no need for anyone to snatch government lands. Such illegal occupations would be cleared. He added that no police was sent to avoid clashes.
