Launches new products in four categories
Hyderabad, May 10, 2007Home appliances major, Whirlpool of India on Thursday launched a new range of products across four categories viz., refrigerators, washing machines, air conditioners and clothes dryers. According to Vice President for Marketing S Das Gupta said that the company plans to invest $20 million on product development in the coming one and half years. He said while major part of the investment goes into engineering and design of the products,, the company will be spending about Rs. 70 crore on advertisement and publicity in the coming one year and ten percent of the advertisement budget goes to Air Conditioners segment.
Whirlpool's sales for the three quarters that ended December 31, 2006 were worth Rs. 1245 crore. The new products, Mastermind refrigerator, Sensation neo washing machine, Magi cool air conditioners and one hundred percent fully automatic clothes dryers are expected to increase Whirlpool's market share to 27 percent from 25 percent in the refrigerator segment, 20 percent; from 18 percent in the washing machine segment and ten percent from 3 percent in the air conditioners segment.
