26 TDP MLAs along with its president suspended for two days
Hyderabad, March 8, 2007The alleged acquisition of agricultural lands by the Chief Minister, Dr.YS Rajasekhara Reddy's brother in law and Mayor of Kadapa created furore in the State Assembly on Thursday leading to suspension of 26 Telugu Desam Party (TDP) MLAs along with it's party president N. Chandrababu Naidu for two days by the Speaker. The TDP leaders alleged that the Kadapa Mayor who is the brother in law of Chief Minister had forcibly acquired 140 acres of agricultural land for a Rs. 150 crore fertilizer project from the poor people and it was reflected in a section of press.
The TDP members stalled the proceeds of the House for nearly 20 minutes and raised slogans demanding that the Speaker should take up the issue who adjourned the House for 15 minutes. The Speaker commented that it is not correct to created pandemonium in the House everyday based on the media reports without verifying the facts before adjourning. When the House reassembled, the slogan shouting TDP members were in no mood to relent and stood rooted in the aisles. The Speaker named the TDP members who evicted by the marshals as they refused to leave the House.
The suspended MLAs dove to Madhapur and staged a dharna for one hour before the house of Kadapa MP and Chief Minister's brother YS Vivekananda Reddy for some time alleging that the building was constructed on the encroached roads. The TDP leaders, E. Dayakara Rao and K. Vijaya Rama Rao speaking to reporters that the MP has constructed the house on encroached land and demanded it to be demolished.
